How Common is Your Kink?

Researchers at the University of Montreal conducted a study of 1,517 Québécois (799 men and 718 women) and asked them if they have sexual fantasies involving various topics. They then tallied up the results so we could see how common or uncommon each fantasy is.

Of course what we care about is how common are crossdressing fantasies. Of the respondents, 6.9% of the women and 10% of the men expressed an interest. Although as an interesting corollary, most women did NOT wish the fantasy to be real, while most men did.

Here is a link to the complete news article summarizing the study, along with a table listing all the fantasies by prevalence.

That 10 per cent could likely be further subdivided; there seem to be several different groups with similar fashion interests, but different motivation.

Thanks Ralph. I read the full article with interest. I didn’t think that the list was completely comprehensive!

I suppose that some crossdressers would object to crossdressing being included in a list of sexual fetishes, although (as you know) I believe there is considerable overlap, and some sort of sexual aspect to crossdressing seems to be everywhere you look on the internet. which implies it’s pretty common. There must be people out there who are looking for that.

Quite right, Vivienne. I wonder how the response numbers would change if they just asked “How often do you…?” from Never to Frequently, outside of the context of sexual fantasies/fetishes.

This is really interesting. Thanks for letting us know about the article. I would like to know more about the cross dressing fantasies. It makes sense to me that men would fantasize about cross dressing as women since women are the sex objects. But I’m curious about why women would fantasize about cross-dressing is men? Given how the question was worded — at least in the list — I wondered how many women might have been wearing their boyfriend’s shirt in the fantasy. Then it’s sort of about connection, with just a little kink.
